Mini #2 - Ako Session 2

 Looking at things, the RMS Leather Brown that I was originally planning to use for the coat/bracers/boots was too close to the RMS Tanned Skin to really provide much contrast. After a bit of comparison, decided to go with the RMS Snow Shadow, a nice blue with a touch of grey in it, as the accent colors. I can also mix that for some highlights on the RMS Marine Teal, as opposed to going straight to the triad's Surf Aqua color. 

Still wondering how to handle the dual swords, as their shape makes it difficult to figure out appropriate highlights with the TMM paints. 

Still, we'll see how this goes.

Ended up detailing the straps/belts/bracers in RMS Leather Brown, and tried the coat in Snow Shadow, but honestly, could barely tell it was painted at all. Two coats and from about 2 feet away it was near impossible to tell it from the primer. So, did a pretty thick wash with Drakhenoff Nightshade to really bring that out, and the darker blue really did help. 

Wash of Nuln Oil over all the straps, then a careful coat of P3 Pig Iron for the spikes and the shoulder pad for a darker feel. 

Some baseline shading on the hair with RMS Violet Red, highlights with RMS Pheonix Red, which really is an orange, despite the name. 

Touched up the face a bit with more RMS Tanned Highlight, and attempted to get some reddish color in on the cheeks/nose area with a thinned down RMS Flesh Wash, but it just ended up messy.

Started on some base shading/highlights on the jumpsuit with RMS Deep Ocean and RMS Surf Aqua, but it's still pretty low contrast. Worked well in a few places, but like to see more on the legs to help define the larger smoother sections. 

Base ended up cracking and falling apart, so temporarily mounted it for painting, will need to either print/paint or work up a new base of some sort. Other than rebasing, need to figure out what to do with the knives on the legs, which really lack much in the way of detail, and try to push the contrast on the shadows/highlights.
